Mk4 Roadster

I began building my Mk4 Roadster Shelby Cobra replica at 16, driven by a curiosity for mechanical systems and hands-on engineering. Using a Factory Five Racing kit as the foundation, I approached the project as a full-scale research and development challenge, learning how each component interacts within a working vehicle. The process required troubleshooting, custom fabrication, and extensive problem-solving to ensure proper fitment and performance of all systems, from the drivetrain to the interior details.

Progress from June 2023 to August 2024

Over the course of the project, I designed and fabricated several custom components, including a glovebox, grommets, and an accelerator cable adapter, applying principles of mechanical design and precision manufacturing. Completing over 450 hours of work independently, I gained deep experience in project planning, iterative design, and the practical application of engineering concepts to transform a kit into a functional and soon-to-be road-ready car while developing hands-on skills.

I’ve had the incredible opportunity of being interviewed for Factory Five Racing’s podcast about the journey building my car. Please see the podcast episode below and a link to my Instagram, where I’ve documented the process along the way. Currently, my project car is operating and will be ready to be painted soon!
