Washing earrings is tedious and easy to mess up—small parts slip, fine details are hard to reach, and cleaning by hand is time-consuming. I designed a miniature washing machine specifically for earrings. The system uses a small basket to contain earrings during the wash cycle, which is automated using an Arduino-controlled motor and water pump.
Although the concept is playful, the project required complex CAD assembly work and precise mechanical design to ensure the basket and housing aligned while tolerating a wet internal environment. This project significantly strengthened my SolidWorks assembly skills and my ability to design for manufacturing. This is a project that I plan to bring to life in due time!
